HOW IT ALL BEGAN

It would be safe to say I’m a 5th generation farmer. My great-great-grandfather Samuel Price was a farmer in Hungary when he decided to emigrate to the United States in the late 1800s. He bought 24 acres of land in New York State’s Hudson Valley where he and his wife cultivated various fruits and vegetables, established a herd of dairy cows, and raised chickens. This farm was operated by Price family descendants until 1974. Although my father spent most of his early childhood on the farm (he was extremely proud of his 4-H Farm Tractor Safety Certificate), he pursued a career in journalism, but I consider him an “honorary farmer,” so I count myself as family farmer number 5.

The dream of becoming a farmer was always in the back of my mind, and in March of 2024, I found a 20-acre grove for sale in the outskirts of Temecula, which was planted with avocados and lemons. I saw tremendous potential in this Temecula avocado grove. With the support of my family, I made the decision to become a full-time farmer, and as the saying goes, “The rest is history.”
